The Challenge
Use a cloud based infrastructure to process 3D model data for use within desktop, and mobile web applications. This infrastructure also allows real time backend edits, additional media asset association, and virtual title purchasing abilities, for a world-wide market.
Specific Performance
The frontend application was re-written in plain JavaScript, and WebGL, and allowed configuration to be set by the client, using snapshot JSON, to create a separation of concerns, and additional loading performance. This allowed the frontend web application to hold embeddable, contained web views in other web applications, most common in sharing applications. The site was further re-designed for mobile responsiveness, and conversion, in conjunction with the design agency.
The backend application was written in a combination of PHP and Python, and was designed for scalable operations with an increasing amount of both operational users, and overall application load. The backend was further extended to handle the Accor Hotels integration allowing tile purchases, and code redemption, via promotional tie-ins.
The result was immediate: conversion of tile purchases rose 87%. The frontend application serves 1.65 million unique users a month and supports 6.2 million page views.
